Description

  • A lender's collector is responsible for managing and recovering overdue payments from individuals or businesses who have taken out loans. Their role is to ensure that borrowers adhere to the terms of their loan agreements and repay outstanding balances. Key duties include:
  • Debt Collection: Contacting borrowers who have missed payments through phone calls, emails, or in-person meetings to request repayment.

Requirements

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required. Some positions may prefer candidates with a degree in finance, business, or a related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience in collections, customer service, or financial services is often preferred. Experience in negotiating or dealing with overdue accounts is an advantage.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively contact borrowers, explain loan terms, and negotiate repayment plans.
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate payment terms or settlement offers with borrowers while maintaining professionalism and customer rapport.
  • Knowledge of Collection Laws: Understanding of relevant laws and regulations, such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), to ensure compliance during the collection process.
