Conduct chemical analyses and experiments to support research and production.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and specialized chemical analyses on water samples from various stages of treatment (e.g., raw water, treated water, wastewater, cooling tower water, boiler water) using a range of laboratory equipment and techniques.
Conduct tests for parameters such as pH, conductivity, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness, dissolved oxygen, chlorine residuals, heavy metals, nutrients (e.g., nitrates, phosphates), organic compounds, and microbiological indicators.
Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation including, but not limited to, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, atomic absorption spectrometers (AAS), ion chromatographs (IC), gas chromatographs (GC), titrators, and pH meters.
Calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Develop and validate new analytical methods as needed to meet evolving regulatory requirements or operational demands.
Interpret analytical data, identify trends, and prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
Collaborate closely with water treatment plant operators, engineers, and field service technicians to understand system performance and provide timely analytical support.
Investigate and diagnose water quality issues, proposing corrective actions based on analytical data.
Ensure all laboratory activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations (HSE) and internal quality control/quality assurance (QC/QA) protocols.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all analyses, calibrations, and quality control checks.
Participate in inter-laboratory proficiency testing programs to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
Stay updated on industry best practices, new analytical technologies, and changes in water quality regulations.
Provide training and guidance to junior staff or operational personnel on water sampling and basic testing procedures.
Requirements

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field.
Minimum of [X] years of experience (e.g., 2-5 years) working as a Chemical Analyst in a water treatment, environmental, or industrial laboratory setting.
Demonstrated proficiency in a wide range of analytical techniques relevant to water chemistry.
Hands-on experience operating and maintaining various laboratory instruments.
Strong understanding of water treatment processes (e.g., coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, reverse osmosis, ion exchange).
Knowledge of relevant local and international water quality standards and regulations (e.g., WHO guidelines, EPA standards, local environmental regulations).
Excellent data analysis, interpretation, and report-writing skills.
Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
Master's degree in a relevant scientific field.
Certification from a recognized professional body (e.g., N.A.C.E. International, WEF).
Experience with advanced analytical techniques (e.g., ICP-OES, GC-MS).
