Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for Special Children

Location: Someros Building, DBP extension Naga road, Pulang Lupa Dos Las Pinas, 1742,

Reports To: Clinical Director / Rehab Team Lead / School Administrator

Work Schedule: Full-time (Monday to Saturday) or Part-time / Flexi-schedule

Salary Range: Competitive; based on experience and qualifications


Job Summary:

  • The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to children with communication, language, speech, fluency, feeding, and swallowing disorders. The SLP will develop and implement individualized therapy plans for children with special needs, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), cleft palate, Down syndrome, hearing impairment, developmental delays, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Services will be delivered in a culturally appropriate, evidence-based, and family-centered manner, aligned with Philippine healthcare and educational standards.


Key Responsibilities:

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations using standardized and culturally appropriate tools (e.g., REEL-3, PLS-5, CELF, informal observation checklists).
  • Screen children for speech, language, voice, fluency, and feeding/swallowing concerns.
  • Analyze background information from parents, teachers, physicians, and allied health professionals.
  • Prepare detailed, professional reports with baseline data and functional therapy goals.


Therapy Planning & Implementation

  • Develop individualized treatment plans focused on expressive/receptive language, articulation, social communication, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), fluency, voice, and feeding/swallowing as needed.
  • Deliver one-on-one or group therapy sessions, adapted to the developmental needs of the child.
  • Use play-based and interactive techniques to promote functional communication in daily settings.
  • Provide home-based or online therapy sessions when necessary, especially in rural or underserved areas.


Family & Team Collaboration

  • Educate and coach caregivers on how to support language development at home and in everyday routines.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including occupational therapists, special education teachers, developmental pediatricians, and psychologists.
  • Attend case conferences, IEP (Individualized Education Plan) meetings, and team huddles to monitor client progress and adjust plans collaboratively.
  • Provide parent training workshops and early intervention orientation, when applicable.


Documentation & Monitoring

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, therapy notes, attendance logs, and progress monitoring sheets.
  • Conduct periodic re-evaluations and generate progress reports for families, referring physicians, or funding agencies.
  • Ensure documentation and practices comply with the guidelines of the Philippine Association of Speech Pathologists (PASP) and PRC regulations, if applicable.


Program Development & Advocacy

  • Assist in speech-language screening programs, early identification campaigns, and community-based interventions.
  • Contribute to the development of locally relevant therapy materials and AAC tools using Filipino or regional languages.
  • Promote awareness of speech-language development through parent talks, school visits, and partnerships with LGUs and NGOs.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from a CHED-recognized university.
  • Completion of required internship hours in pediatric or clinical speech therapy settings.

Licensure & Professional Affiliation

  • Licensure from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) is preferred but graduates of Speech-Language Pathology programs are also welcome to apply.
  • Active or aspiring membership with the Philippine Association of Speech Pathologists (PASP) is encouraged.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of pediatric clinical or school-based experience preferred (fresh graduates with strong internship experience may also apply).
  • Clinical background in working with children with autism, ADHD, language delays, or cleft speech is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledgeable in evidence-based approaches to speech and language disorders.
  • Skilled in using child-friendly and culturally relevant tools and play-based methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Filipino.
  • Empathy, patience, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills for working with children and families.

Work Setting & Conditions

  • Will work in a combination of clinic, school, home, and/or telepractice environments.
  • Must be physically capable of handling young children and engaging in floor or table-based activities.
  • Should be open to doing outreach work or therapy in rural or community settings when needed.

Other Requirements

  • Valid NBI Clearance and Barangay Clearance.
  • Updated CPR/BLS Training (preferred).
  • Willing to participate in continuing education, seminars, and clinical supervision.
  • Familiarity with Philippine laws and guidelines related to special education and therapy services is a plus.
