The SMT Technician is responsible for supporting daily Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production activities through proper setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of SMT machines and equipment.

This role ensures that all SMT production lines are running efficiently, safely, and in accordance with quality standards. The technician works closely with the SMT Engineer, Production, and Quality teams to minimize downtime and maintain high production yield.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Setup & Operation Support

• Assist in the setup, operation, and changeover of SMT machines (such as Yamaha, Panasonic, or Fuji).
• Load programs, prepare feeders, and verify components before production starts.
• Conduct first piece inspection to ensure correct placement and soldering before mass production.
• Support production operators in daily line activities and ensure smooth operation.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and routine servicing of SMT equipment, printers, reflow ovens, and AOI machines.
• Troubleshoot machine errors, feeder jams, misalignment, or component pickup issues during production.
• Replace worn-out parts (nozzles, belts, sensors) and ensure machines are calibrated properly.
• Record all maintenance activities, downtime, and repairs in the maintenance logbook or system.
• Support engineers in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.

Quality & Process Support

• Ensure SMT processes comply with standard work instructions (WI) and ESD control procedures.
• Assist QA/Engineer in monitoring solder paste condition, stencil cleanliness, and reflow profile accuracy.
• Report immediately any defective boards or quality issues detected during operation.

Housekeeping & Safety

• Maintain a clean and organized working area following 5S practices.
• Handle tools, machines, and components safely.
• Follow all factory safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
