About the role:

The VSC Companion is responsible for continuously monitoring up to 12 patients, ensuring their safety by promptly alerting on-site nurses when attention is needed. The role requires professional communication with patients, families, and clinical staff, as well as timely reporting of any behavioral changes or concerns. Companions complete thorough shift hand-offs, sharing key updates for each assigned patient. They must maintain accurate hourly documentation and immediately record significant events. The position also requires strict adherence to monitoring area rules—no personal devices or distractions are allowed—to ensure full focus on patient screens. Breaks are covered by a designated floater, and staff must remain at their station until relieved. Professionalism, vigilance, and quick escalation of any safety risks or emergencies are essential to this role.
