Job Description

The Head Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the repair, maintenance, and overall performance of the company’s vehicles. Working closely with the Motorpool Manager, this role ensures that all vehicles are in top condition, repairs are done efficiently, and maintenance schedules are properly followed. The Head Mechanic must be knowledgeable in handling various types of vehicles — from light cars to heavy equipment — and capable of coordinating with on-call service providers for major repairs.

This role requires flexibility to work between Cavite and Kamuning, with primary assignment in Kamuning depending on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and perform repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting for all company vehicles.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Motorpool Manager to plan maintenance schedules, allocate work, and monitor vehicle conditions.
  • Conduct diagnostic checks and resolve mechanical or electrical issues promptly.
  • Handle both regular and complex repairs — from minor fixes (oil changes, brakes, tires) to major overhauls and engine work.
  • Coordinate with on-call mechanics and external service providers for large-scale or specialized repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts, and ensure their proper use and safekeeping.
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain an organized, hazard-free work area.
  • Provide technical guidance to drivers and mechanics, ensuring efficient and safe vehicle handling.
  • Suggest cost-effective solutions and preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and repair costs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Motorpool Manager or management.

Qualifications

  • Vocational or Technical Course graduate in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in vehicle repair and maintenance (light and heavy vehicles).
  • Deep knowledge of engine systems, diagnostics, and troubleshooting (diesel and gasoline).
  • Must be flexible to report to both Cavite and Kamuning branches, with Kamuning as the main site.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and train mechanics effectively.
  • Hands-on, reliable, and with strong problem-solving and coordination skills.
  • Trustworthy, proactive, and can work independently or with minimal supervision.
