• Ingredient Prep: Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables and fruits.
• Basic Cooking: Assist with simple tasks like boiling water, par-cooking pasta, or preparing marinades.
• Portioning: Weigh and measure ingredients for recipes or service.
• Thawing: Pull items from the freezer and ensure they are thawed safely according to guidelines.

Cleaning & Maintenance

• Dishwashing: Operate the dishwasher and scrub pots, pans, and utensils by hand when necessary.
• Sanitizing: Clean and sanitize work stations, cutting boards, and counters frequently.
• Waste Management: Empty trash bins, break down cardboard boxes, and handle recycling.
• Floor Care: Sweep and mop kitchen floors to prevent slips and falls.

Stocking & Organization

• Receiving: Help unload food deliveries and check for quality/damage.
• Storage: Put away ingredients using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method to reduce spoilage.
• Refilling: Keep the line cooks stocked with plates, utensils, and ingredients during service.

General Support

• Plating Assist: Help garnish dishes or plate simple appetizers/desserts during rush hours.
• Equipment Check: Report any broken or malfunctioning kitchen tools to the head chef.
