Job Summary:



 

Digital Librarians are responsible for managing the digital assets of their organization. This includes everything from creating and maintaining databases to ensuring all digital content is appropriately organized, tagged, and indexed.

They may work directly with patrons daily or spend most of their time behind the scenes working on projects. Regardless of their role, they ensure digital information is easily accessible and well-organized.

Responsibilities:

• Organizing digital library collections and databases by tagging, cataloging, and creating metadata using industry-standard software programs.

• Analyzing user needs in order to recommend improvements to existing digital library services or development of new services.

• Maintaining an inventory of digital library resources and ensuring they are available to users when needed.

• Providing reference assistance to users by answering questions regarding how to use library resources.

• Developing training materials for staff on the use of digital library resources and other systems used by the company.

• Developing policies and procedures for managing digital library collections

• Ensures safe transportation and storage of physical backup media.

• Performs degaussing of tapes and hard disks.

• Initializes and labels tapes for backup use.

• Ensures backup media availability when needed.

• Performs periodic media inventory.

• Coordinates with third-party support for software and hardware requirements to support media provisioning and safekeeping.



Qualifications:

• Graduate of Librarian, Information Technology, Education, Public Administration, or any other relevant course.

• Significant understanding and background in IT Operations.

• Good communication skills

• Ability to work in a team environment.

• Must be amenable to work onsite in Makati.
