Job description:

• Design and analysis: Create and analyze structural designs for new construction or alterations to existing structures, ensuring they can withstand forces like gravity, wind, and earthquakes.
• Calculations and modeling: Perform calculations for loads, stresses, stability, and rigidity. They often use CAD software to create models and drawings.
• Material selection: Choose appropriate materials for each project based on strength and other properties.
• Project management: Monitor construction processes to ensure the design is implemented correctly and safely.
• Collaboration: Work with other professionals, such as architects, contractors, and project managers, to achieve project goals.
• Compliance: Ensure that designs meet all necessary safety, building, and environmental regulations. This includes obtaining planning and building regulations approval.
