Job Description

Role Summary

The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automated workflows across the organization. The role focuses on identifying repetitive, manual processes and transforming them into efficient, reliable automations that connect multiple systems. This position works closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, implement solutions, and optimize processes for productivity and accuracy. The Automation Engineer will report to the Project Director and support project delivery by ensuring automation initiatives are executed effectively.

Key Responsibilities Automation Development

  • Develop, test, and deploy automations using platforms such as UiPath, Power Automate, Zapier, Make.com, Workato, or custom scripts.
  • Integrate systems (CRM, ERP, LMS, finance tools, internal platforms) to streamline workflows.
  • Build reusable automation components, triggers, and monitoring dashboards.

Process Analysis & Optimization

  • Identify repetitive or time-consuming manual processes suitable for automation.
  • Conduct workflow mapping, feasibility assessment, and process improvement recommendations.
  • Ensure automations deliver measurable efficiency gains.

Maintenance & Support

  • Monitor and troubleshoot automations to prevent failures or errors.
  • Optimize existing workflows for scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Maintain documentation, including workflow diagrams, version history, and SOPs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Product, Operations, Finance, and other teams to capture automation requirements.
  • Translate functional needs into technical specifications.
  • Train and support end users on automated workflows.

Project Coordination

  • Work closely with the Project Director to align automation initiatives with project timelines and deliverables.
  • Provide regular updates on progress, blockers, and completion status.

Success Metrics / KPIs

  • Number of automated workflows successfully deployed
  • Reduction in manual effort (hours saved)
  • Decrease in operational errors and delays
  • Stakeholder satisfaction and adoption of automations
  • Timely delivery of automation initiatives aligned with project timelines

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • 2–5+ years experience in RPA, automation, or workflow optimization
  • Hands-on experience with automation platforms (UiPath, Power Automate, Zapier, Make.com, Workato, Selenium, etc.)
  • Knowledge of APIs, webhooks, or system integrations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills

Nice-to-Have:

  • Scripting experience (Python, JavaScript, VBA, SQL)
  • Familiarity with SaaS systems commonly automated (CRM, ERP, HRIS, LMS)
  • Experience with attended and unattended automation bots
  • Background in process improvement or workflow optimization (Lean, Six Sigma)
