We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Fixed Asset and Lease Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for managing the accounting and reporting of fixed assets and lease obligations in compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, ASC 842). The ideal candidate will ensure accurate capitalization, depreciation, and lease accounting while supporting financial audits and internal controls.


Key Responsibilities:

Fixed Asset Accounting

  • Maintain the fixed asset subledger and ensure accurate recording of acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
  • Review capital expenditure requests for proper classification and compliance with capitalization policies.
  • Calculate and record monthly depreciation and reconcile fixed asset accounts.
  • Perform periodic physical asset inventories and coordinate with operations for asset tracking.
  • Assist in forecasting and budgeting for capital expenditures.


Lease Accounting

  • Manage lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842, including classification, recognition, and measurement.
  • Maintain lease schedules and ensure timely updates for new, modified, or terminated leases.
  • Prepare journal entries for lease-related transactions and reconcile lease liability and ROU asset accounts.
  • Collaborate with legal and operations teams to review lease agreements and extract key terms.
  • Support lease-related disclosures for financial reporting and audits.


General & Cross-Functional

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes related to fixed assets and leases.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis.
  • Continuously improve processes and controls related to asset and lease management.
  • Stay current on changes in accounting standards and best practices.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in fixed asset and/or lease accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and ASC 842 lease accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and fixed asset modules.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with lease accounting software (e.g., Visual Lease, LeaseQuery, CoStar).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
