Smoke-barbeque was initially developed in Tennessee, South America. The co-owners decided to bring some of the smoked ribs to their home in the Philippines after they experienced their distinct flavor. The Scorched Smokehouse was reopened on March 8, 2019, and it was registered as Charque Food Hub. The restaurant chain's original location was established at the Fusebox Lifestyle Center, which is close to the University of Santo Tomas at Laong Laan St. and Asturias St. in Sampaloc, Manila. The restaurant is a tiny "hole in the wall" that can only accommodate 20 people. Through word-of-mouth and catering primarily to UST students and physicians, scorched has established a reputation and begun to attract business.
