Company Profile: Witco Group of Companies
1988: Witco International Trading Corporation (Witco) was founded in 1988 by William Ko, who started to import and distribute a variety of hardware fittings. Its main line of business involved importing and distributing high quality European hardware for the wholesale market. Eventually its product line expanded to include architectural hardware, bathroom fixtures and accessories, kitchen and built-in appliances, lighting solutions and raw materials for furniture manufacturing. The first showroom was located in Paco, Manila.
2000: Addressing the provincial need for top quality hardware, Witco Marketing, Inc. was established in Cebu. The same product line of were introduced in order to support export furniture manufacturers in Cebu with a greater variety of imported hardware fittings and the ever-changing needs and requirements of their customers. . Mr. Ko was eager to support the local export industry by supplying them with raw materials and necessary hardware. Furthermore the Cebu showroom also catered to end-users and other contractors.
2001: In addition to addressing the market’s wholesale needs, Witco opened Koln Hardware Supplier Inc. to cater to needs of end-users, contractors as well as small furniture manufacturers. The same product line was offered to clients, with further emphasis on first class European standards.
2001: Mrs. Ko, after many years of supporting her husband’s businesses, decided to establish Gruppo Mobili Philippines, Inc. to introduce the market to high end Italian furniture by travelling to the world specially to Italy in search for something that the Filipino public is missing. No one appreciates the beauty and craftsmanship of Italian furniture quite like astute businesswoman Florence Ko. The company became an importer, distributor and retailer of numerous Italian brands and opened its first showroom, FURNitalia in Greenhills in 2002. FURNitalia is now known to everyone as “The Temple of Italian Style in the Philippines”. FURNitalia is representing most of the top high level brand of Italy when it comes to home furniishings. Among the most important brands are Poltrona Frau, Molteni and C, Giorgetti, Flexform, Cassina, Fontana Arte, Penta, Venini, Fiam, Roda, Serralunga, Mobilidea and Anna Torfs.
2003: Cabinet Vision Manufacturing Corporation (CVMC) was established by Mr. Ko in order to meet the local need for high end modular kitchens and wardrobes. It introduced modern state-of-the-art European technology and innovative methods of furniture manufacturing to offer the Filipino market with high quality yet economic world-class modular cabinets.
During this same year CVMC opened its first showroom, Space 2000, the brand, in Pasong Tamo to showcase samples of its high quality modular kitchens and wardrobes.
2006: Eventually due to the demand grew and need of larger showroom space, Mrs. Ko dared to take a leap and put up the glorious testament to Filipino marketing genius in action. FURNitalia moved to , Fort Bonifacio in 2006, the only one of its kind in Asia , the newest and biggest lifestyle haven specialyzing in high-end Italian furniture where customers are fully able to appreciate the beauty of the furniture. It was at this time that the former showroom was converted into a mono-brand shop exclusively for Calligaris (an Italian brand with a mono brand showroom) , which is a leading name in Italian living offers mid to high range home furniture.
2007: Mr. Ko moved his Space 2000 showroom to Fort Bonifacio to be housed alongside Furnitalia. In this larger space, clients are able to see more of the items on offer and envision how the modular furniture can be used in their own homes. This new showroom is tailored to predominantly end-users, particularly those with high quality demands.
2013: Witco Marketing, Inc. take over the Koln Hardware Supplier, Inc.
