ROLE SUMMARY
Our client is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to join their growing team and support all aspects of their real estate accounting operations. This individual will be instrumental in managing financial reporting, month-end closings, and investor distributions, while also helping to develop internal processes and cross-functional support.
WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time (11:00 PM – 8:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays
POSITION TYPE: Full Time
WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead the month-end and quarter-end close process for assigned entities
- Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Manage investor distribution calculations and reporting
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and research, providing actionable insights
- Originate and maintain master entity data and schedules
- Assist with construction accounting and capital project tracking
- Support the development and refinement of accounting policies and procedures
- Partner with asset management and operations teams to ensure timely, accurate reporting
- Provide accounting support to non-accounting team members
- Complete special projects and support other accounting functions as needed
- Perform the following daily duties:
- Handle ACH Debit block review/Positive pay
- Review bank accounts to ensure no negative balance
- Compile and review incoming expense reports
- Review email for invoices to be paid
- Process ad-hoc requests
- Perform the following weekly duties:
- Meet with the Yardi team every Tuesday
- Listen in on team calls for accounting action items (acquisitions calls, transactions calls, and asset management calls)
- Perform the following monthly duties:
- Calculate asset Management fees (West Valley, SAT 1 JV, TAF Ballard JV)
- Upload asset management fees’ ETL
- Download property financials and upload ETL
- Conduct bank reconciliations
- Download Northmarq loan statement (send to property)
- Compile TAM reporting package
- Create invoices in Yardi as instructed by the asset management team
- Wire working capital funds to LP per asset management team instructions (The Baxter, AGTL 2nd St Parent/AG)
- Wire CapEx funds to property per asset management team instructions (TAF Ballard, West Valley, 2828 Zuni, Stack House, TAF Olympia)
- Reach out to property managers with questions about financials
- Forward loan statements to property managers
- Enter AJEs as requested by Allen or Melissa
- Compile invoices for Bradley Heights draws
- Save invoices to draw folders (Bradley Heights, West Valley)
- Perform the following quarterly, semi-annual, and annual duties:
- Calculate state and city B&O (TAM and TP Financial)
- File WA DOR Return (TAM)
- Track non-TAF capital calls in the bank and post to JS
- Enter quarterly non-TAF distributions in Chase
- Upload distributions ETL into Yardi
- Upload financials into Juniper Square
- Upload loan reporting certification and financials into Northmarq
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CMA or CPA certification is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience; real estate background preferred
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with Yardi Voyager is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Desire to learn and grow with a company that values initiative and ownership
