Litigation Paralegal (Defense-Side Civil Litigation)

Job Summary

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established civil litigation law firm in Parsippany, NJ seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys in defense-side matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a litigation paralegal with solid drafting and discovery experience who is looking to take on meaningful case responsibility in a structured, professional environment.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing deadlines while working closely with attorneys throughout the litigation process.

If your experience is primarily in plaintiff work, family law, real estate, or employment law, this role will not be a fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft substantive pleadings including complaints, answers, motions, and discovery requests/responses
• Manage cases from inception through trial preparation
• Coordinate attorney calendars, court deadlines, and case schedules
• Prepare and organize large-scale document productions and discovery materials
• Conduct background reviews and case investigations
• Maintain case files and ensure compliance with procedural rules
• Support detailed and accurate billable time entry documentation
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
• Assist with deposition summaries, exhibits, and trial preparation

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of civil litigation experience (defense-side strongly preferred)
• Strong hands-on discovery experience (requests, responses, document production)
• Proven ability to independently draft pleadings and litigation documents
• Experience supporting attorney billing and crafting detailed time entry narratives
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to manage multiple active cases simultaneously
• Strong organizational skills with experience handling high document volume
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
