Job Description

Inventory Controller

The Inventory Controller will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing all inventory operations within the organization. This position ensures the accurate tracking, reporting, and management of inventory across all departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to optimize inventory processes to support business operations and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

  • Oversee daily inventory operations, including receiving, storing, and distributing materials.
  • Monitor stock levels across warehouses and retail locations to ensure sufficient availability.
  • Perform periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile with system records to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inventory transactions using the company’s inventory management system.
  • Analyze inventory reports to identify slow-moving or obsolete stock and make recommendations for improvement.

Stock Control and Optimization

  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to ensure stock levels are optimized and aligned with business requirements.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely order replenishments and avoid stockouts.
  • Monitor and track inventory turnover rates to improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) or other suitable methods to ensure stock rotation and minimize wastage.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare and submit regular reports on inventory status, trends, and stock discrepancies to senior management.
  • Track and report on the movement of goods, including inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Maintain all inventory-related documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

System and Process Improvement

  • Continuously improve inventory tracking methods and work towards automating manual processes where possible.
  • Work closely with IT or the ERP system team to ensure the smooth functioning of the inventory management system.
  • Investigate and resolve any inventory discrepancies or issues, coordinating with relevant departments.

Collaboration and Coordination

  • Work closely with the purchasing team to ensure timely orders and correct quantities of materials are purchased.
  • Liaise with the sales and customer service teams to ensure that inventory is available for orders and projects.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure the safe handling and storage of goods.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure that all inventory handling complies with company policies, health & safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and internal checks to ensure all inventory processes adhere to compliance requirements.

Training and Supervision

  • Train and mentor warehouse or inventory staff on inventory control procedures and best practices.
  • Supervise the work of inventory assistants and ensure team members are adhering to established procedures.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse management, or a similar role, preferably in the electrical trading field.
  • Experience in using ERP or inventory management software is a plus (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of inventory and stock control procedures.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in inventory and warehouse environments.
