Senior Accountant

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant (not bookkeeper) will fully own the month-end close for multiple US-based, venture capital–backed startups. This role requires hands-on, verifiable VC startup experience and a strong command of accrual-basis accounting in fast-paced environments.

You will work independently, manage complex accounting scenarios, and deliver investor-ready financials for founders, boards, and investors across a growing VC portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the end-to-end month-end close for multiple VC-backed startup clients.
• Prepare and review accrual-basis accounting entries, including:
• Deferred revenue
• Deferred commissions
• Accrued expenses
• Prepaid expenses
• Fixed assets and depreciation
• Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks Online.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Ensure financial statements are investor-ready and aligned with VC reporting timelines.
• Support financial reporting required by founders, investors, and boards.
• Proactively identify and resolve accounting issues with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with internal teams while operating with a high degree of independence.

Job Specifications

• Proven, verifiable experience working with VC-backed startups
• Strong understanding of startup finance and investor reporting cycles
• Extensive hands-on experience with accrual accounting
• Demonstrated ownership of the full month-end close
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
